The Story Behind Pacific Breeze: A Family Beach House, Not a Rental Unit

beach house 33

Pacific Breeze isn’t a unit in a portfolio. It’s our family’s beach house, opened to guests in 2022, and I still answer every single message myself.

We bought it for the same reason most people book it: that stretch of Manresa State Beach doesn’t feel like Northern California’s busier coastline. It’s quiet, it’s uncrowded, and the house was built to take full advantage of it — three floors, three separate views of Monterey Bay, and direct beach access at the bottom of the stairs.

Four years and fifty-one reviews later, it’s still run the way it started: personally. When you message us before booking, you’re talking to me, not a call center. When you arrive, the recommendations you get — where to eat, when the tide’s right for a beach fire, which stretch of Manresa suits younger kids — come from actually living near this coast, not a generic list.

That’s the part that’s hard to put in a listing photo. The house has heated bathroom floors, two fireplaces, a fully stocked kitchen, and a beach closet full of gear, and all of that matters. But the reason people come back is closer to the reason we bought it in the first place — it still feels like a family beach house, not a hotel room with a view.

We keep the group size intentionally modest — eight guests, ten for daytime gatherings — because that’s the size of house we’d want to stay in ourselves.
